The Professional Scrum Product Owner™ is a practical and activity-based course that focuses on helping experienced Product Owners and Product Managers enhance their ability to develop a vision, validate their hypotheses, and ultimately deliver more value to their stakeholders. The course goes beyond the topics covered in the Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) class by deepening participants' understanding of the various facets of a professional Product Owner's role.
There are many myths and misunderstandings about the role of the Product Owner. However, the responsibilities of a Product Owner go beyond managing the product backlog and writing user stories. The Product Owner is crucial in bridging the gap between business strategy and product execution to assist the Scrum team in creating valuable products.
In this training, participants will develop and solidify their knowledge of the Scrum framework and the responsibilities of a Product Owner through instruction and team-based exercises. Participants will learn techniques that can help them tackle the everyday challenges they face. They will do so while also learning how to collaborate better with the organization, stakeholders, customers, and their team to create greater value for the delivered product.
The various focus areas covered in this and other courses can be seen in the PSPO Training Competency Mapping.
1. Increase business agility through proper execution of the Product Owner role.
2. Recognize the value of a product over a project mindset.
3. Learn how to connect business strategy with product execution using Scrum.
4. Understand that the Product Owner is an agile product manager.
5. Understand the Scrum principles and empiricism.
6. Understand the responsibilities of the Product Owner in the Scrum team.
7. Learn how to align the team with the business strategy, product vision, product goal, and sprint goal.
8. Find ways to effectively communicate the business strategy, product vision, and product goal.
9. Learn techniques for product backlog management, release management, and forecasting.
10. Identify metrics that can be used to track value creation and successful product delivery.
11. Explore techniques for interacting with stakeholders, customers, and members of the Scrum team.
Upon completing the Professional Scrum Product Owner training, all participants receive a password to take the PSPO assessment. The PSPO I certification, widely recognized in the industry, requires a minimum passing score of 85%. Participants who have attended the PSPO training and attempt the PSPO I assessment within 14 days of receiving their free password, but do not achieve at least 85% of the points, will be given a second attempt at no additional cost.
