Scrum organizes the work with five events in the sprints, which itself is an event:

  • The sprint
  • The sprint planning
  • Daily Scrum
  • The Sprint review
  • Sprint Retrospective

Scrum includes the following three Scrum roles per team:

  • The development team
  • The product owner
  • The Scrum Master

Scrum artifacts are used to track the work of the Scrum team's performance:

  • Product Backlog
  • The sprint backlog
  • Increase

These five values characterize a Scrum process:

  1. Courage: Scrum helps agile project management team members do the right things when faced with complex problems at the right time.
  2. Focus: Delivering the expected results at the end of a sprint is the primary goal of everyone who puts effort into project work.
  3. Commitment: People represent themselves as sprint goals and process owners.
  4. Respect: The team members respect each other's skills, experience, and motivation
  5. Openness: Transparent and open-minded approach to the challenges of sprint work.

Agile project management with Scrum

Scrum was founded in 1995 by Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schwaber. Scrum is a simple framework for managing complex project work with associated roles, events, artifacts, and rules. It is easy to understand and implement different types of projects in various fields. This provides team members with a creative and productive perspective.

The emphasis is on producing consistently at a given time. Scrum is the most popular agile project management methodology and is therefore used in many organizations.

Essentially, Scrum consists of sprints. Below you will get a brief description of it. This way you can see what steps are involved from start to finish of a sprint.

  1. A product backlog is managed by the product owner, which includes customer requests (admin job).
  2. Under the guidance of the product owner, the team decides which items of the product backlog to accept and determines a way to deliver the work at the end of the sprint based on its expertise.
  3. Collaboration is done in sprints.
  4. The Scrum Master looks after the team every day and sees if there are any obstacles. Offers leadership throughout the sprint.
  5. They regularly hold sprint reviews at the end of each edition.
  6. The process continues continuously and iteratively until all jobs are placed on the product backlog.
