SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master Certification (SASM)

The role of a Scrum Master is typically not restricted to any specific industry or business area, as Scrum is about applying an agile development method that can be used across industries. However, a Scrum Master may have better job prospects if they have experience or knowledge in the industry or in applying Scrum in similar environments.

A Scrum Master certification can improve job prospects as many companies are looking for Scrum Masters with knowledge and experience in the Scrum framework for their development teams.

The SASM certification builds upon the knowledge and skills acquired in the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification. The SASM certification covers advanced Scrum practices and techniques that enable Scrum Masters to navigate complex environments and effectively coach and support the Scrum process.

All individuals are welcome to attend the SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master Seminar, regardless of experience or role.

SAFe® Scrum Master (SSM) or similar certification is highly recommended for students planning to take the SAFe® 5.1 Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) certification exam.

Your certification must be renewed every year. The following must be met each year before renewal:

• PDUs: At least ten additional training/outreach hours (PDUs) must be added annually.
• Certification Renewal Cost: You must purchase the membership and certification bundle for $295 ($100 for renewal and $195 for membership). If you have more than one Scaled Agile certification, you can renew them at this price. For example, if you have a Leading SAFe certification that expires on April 7, 2021, and a SASM certification that expires on October 11, 2021, paying $295 will renew both certifications and have the same expiration on October 11, 2021.

To renew your certification:

• Log in to the SAFe community platform with your access data.
• Click on the "Renew" button next to your certification (at the top of the homepage)
• You will then see the payment screen (shopping cart), where you can complete the renewal process.

The final certification exam is a multiple-choice procedure. One answer is required, or a multiple choice of two to three solutions.

There are 60 questions in total, and participants have 120 minutes to answer. To pass, at least 44 questions must be answered correctly. This corresponds to a share of 73%.

There are several different contents for the SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master exam. This includes the following topics with their percentages in the test:

• Building high-performing teams (17%)
• Exploring the Scrum Master role (15%)
• Application of SAFe principles (15%)
• Facilitate program execution (15%)
• Optimizing the flow with Kanban, as well as XP (13%)
• Exploring Agile and Scrum anti-patterns (13%)
• Optimizing program performance (12%)

No, no recording and/or dissemination of distance learning is permitted. Participants must be present at the live training as if the training were taking place in person.

No, if a question requires multiple answers, all correct answers must be selected. No partial credit will be given.

A Scrum Master certification from a recognized organization such as Scrum Alliance demonstrates that a Scrum Master has the necessary knowledge and skills to coach and support the Scrum process within an organization. It enhances the Scrum Master's credibility and can help establish them as an expert in agile development.

Scrum Masters who obtain the SASM certification are able to coach and support more effectively by expanding their knowledge and skills in the application of Scrum practices and techniques. They are also able to identify and solve complex problems and obstacles that may arise within the Scrum process.

Scrum is an iterative and incremental process that enables teams to quickly respond to changes and effectively collaborate to deliver high-quality software products.

An important part of Scrum is also the role of the Product Owner, who is responsible for defining requirements and prioritizing product backlog items. The Product Owner and the development team work closely together to ensure that the end product meets the customer's requirements.

The SASM certification is an important certification for Scrum Masters who want to expand their knowledge and skills in the area of Scrum in order to more effectively coach and support the Scrum process.

The Advanced Scrum Master certification (SASM) is a certification offered by Scrum Alliance that is focused on Scrum Masters who already have experience in applying Scrum practices. The SASM certification is aimed at Scrum Masters who have advanced knowledge of Scrum and are able to apply the Scrum practices in complex environments.

To become successful as a Scrum Master, you should have a deep understanding of Scrum, its values and principles, and its application in various scenarios. Acquire knowledge through Scrum training and certifications such as the Professional Scrum Master certification from Scrum.org or the Certified Scrum Master certification from Scrum Alliance.

The Scrum process is conducted in sprints, which typically last two to four weeks. Each sprint starts with a sprint planning meeting where the development team discusses the customer's requirements and plans the tasks for the sprint. During the sprint, the development team works on the identified tasks and holds short daily meetings to discuss progress and next steps.

By implementing Scrum, teams can collaborate more effectively and achieve their goals more efficiently. A Scrum Master who understands the process and can coach and support the teams contributes to improving collaboration within the team.

Scrum Masters can work in many different industries and companies, as long as they are using the Scrum process. Scrum Master jobs are typically found in IT companies, software development offices, consulting firms, financial services providers, telecommunications companies, and many other industries. Scrum Masters can also be utilized in non-technical areas such as marketing, sales, and human resources, as long as the Scrum process can be applied effectively.
